Make music with Fledgetone

Hands-on lessons, one idea at a time: open the studio beside this page and follow along. Each one builds a real example you can open at the end. For every button and setting, see the guide.

Beginner

  1. Lesson 1 · 10 minutes

    A tour of the studio

Open a song, play it, and find your way around the screen: the timeline, the piano roll, the mixer and the menus.

  2. Lesson 2 · 15 minutes

    Make your first beat

Click a drum pattern into the piano roll's drum rows, loop it, give it swing, add a fill, and meet the Drummer.

  3. Lesson 3 · 20 minutes

    Chords and a melody

Pick a key, lay down four chords, add a piano part that follows them, then write a tune on the chord notes and let the melody helper answer it.

  4. Lesson 11 · 15 minutes

    Export, share and finish

Save your song, keep it safe, export it as WAV, MP3 or a seamless loop, share a link or a showcase video, cut a 30-second version and install the app.

  5. Lesson 12 · 20 minutes

    Make music on your phone

Make a short song in Fledgetone Pocket, the phone version: tap in a beat, add chords and a bass line, sing over it, mix it, arrange it and share it.

Intermediate

  1. Lesson 4 · 20 minutes

    Bass lines and 808s

Write a bass line on the chords' roots, then an 808 that slides, sits in the key and ducks under the kick so the low end breathes.

  2. Lesson 5 · 30 minutes

    Arrange a full song

Turn an 8-bar loop into a song with an intro, verse, build, drop, breakdown and outro, using copies, markers, a build-up, a tempo rush and a key change.

  3. Lesson 6 · 30 minutes

    Mix and master

Take a finished song and mix it yourself: levels, panning, EQ, compression, reverb and delay, a drum bus, then a master that's ready for streaming.

  4. Lesson 7 · 30 minutes

    Record and polish vocals

Record your voice over a beat, sing a line several times and keep the best bits, then add a vocal chain, tuning, a double, ad-libs and a beat that makes room for you.

Advanced

  1. Lesson 8 · 40 minutes

    Design your own sounds

Build a pluck and a pad in the Synth Designer, make drums from scratch, shape a coin and a jump for a game, and turn your own recordings into instruments.

  2. Lesson 9 · 30 minutes

    Score a video

Load a film, find its cuts, fit the tempo so every cut lands on a bar, then hand the music and markers to the editor.

  3. Lesson 10 · 35 minutes

    Game music that reacts

Turn a song into music a game can steer: states to switch between, transitions, intensity layers and stingers, then export it for Godot, Unity, the web, FMOD or Wwise.
