Guide Installing Fledgetone
Installing Fledgetone
Fledgetone can be installed as an app from fledgetone.com: it opens in a window of its own, with its own icon in your Start menu, Dock or app list, and it opens even without an internet connection.
- Chrome or Edge on a computer: choose Help › Install Fledgetone…, or click the install icon at the right of the address bar.
- Safari on a Mac: File › Add to Dock (or Share › Add to Dock).
- Safari on an iPhone or iPad: tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- Android: the browser's menu (⋮) › Install app or Add to Home screen.
- Firefox on a computer doesn't install web apps; Fledgetone works in it as a web page.
In the installed app, the Help menu no longer offers it. The installed app and the web page share everything: your autosave, your sounds and the kept recordings. A one-file copy of Fledgetone (an HTML file opened from your computer) can't be installed; Help › Install Fledgetone tells you to open fledgetone.com instead.
New versions. Fledgetone looks for a new version when it opens and about every half hour while it's open (only while you're online, and not while a song plays or an export renders). A new version downloads quietly in the background; then a small notice in the bottom right says Version … is ready with a Reload button. Nothing changes until you click it: your work is autosaved first, the app reloads into the new version, Restore brings your song back, and What's new opens at the new version's changes. If a new version arrives while you play or export, the notice waits until you stop. Close it with × to carry on: the new version opens next time you start Fledgetone. Only the files that changed are downloaded.
