Guide Working offline
Working offline
After you've opened Fledgetone once from fledgetone.com (in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox), it opens and works without an internet connection, installed or not:
- The app itself is kept in the browser and opens from there, offline or not, so it starts at once and isn't downloaded again.
- Recorded instruments download their recordings the first time a song uses them; then they're kept (Master tab › Instruments offline shows how many and how much space, and Download all gets every instrument now, for a trip). A recording is downloaded again only when its instrument is re-recorded in a new version.
- Synths, drum machines, effects, exports and the sound effects maker need nothing from the internet.
- The built-in plugins download the first time you use one and are then kept too.
Keeping your work. Browsers can clear a website's storage when the disk is nearly full. Fledgetone asks the browser to keep it (when you install the app, or once you've made a song); Master tab › Instruments offline shows Storage: protected, or may be cleared by the browser if the disk gets full with a Protect button to ask again. Browsers decide for themselves; installing Fledgetone usually lets it keep your storage. Whatever the browser says, File › Save your songs to files: that's the copy nothing can clear.
